CrossFit

CrossFit is a high-intensity, continually diversified functional movement program. The constant change provides the body with a different stimulus each session, resulting in a steady growth in fitness levels. The functional movements we use are “amplifications” of the large, everyday motions made by a physically active individual. Because many of us work sedentary jobs, CrossFit workouts give a means to stay in shape while moving with force and efficiency.

Common Questions

Zumba is a fitness program that includes dancing exercises with Latin and international music. Interval training — alternating rapid and slow beats — is used into Zumba routines to help improve cardiovascular fitness. But still few may have some questions.

No, however check with the fitness center to see if any of their classes have age restrictions. I’ve taught Zumba to students ranging in age from 2.5 to 80, and they’ve all done exceptionally well! Specialized classes for children are available, though.
Because you will most certainly sweat, I recommend wearing clothing that allows you to move freely while also being comfortable. Many of my pupils are dressed in sweatpants, t-shirts, and shorts, among other things… In terms of footwear, I recommend choosing shoes that provide sufficient foot support while still allowing for simple movement on the hardwood floor. Shoes with a lot of traction (like running shoes) are not recommended because they will ‘stick’ as you twist and could cause knee problems.
That depends entirely on how hard you work. To truly see their improvements, I recommend that my students purchase a heart rate monitor. But I wanted to give you a sense of my own personal experience. In one hour, I burnt anything from 600 to 900 calories. Within the first 3-5 minutes of class, I will be sweating profusely. When compared to running on a treadmill, where the same outcomes would take at least 10 minutes.
Zumba session are suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels, but because a typical session is high-energy, novice students may find it difficult to learn the moves and routines at first. Don’t be disheartened! Follow along as closely as possible and you’ll be up to speed in no time.
